So: do you think those are *the* Four Words?

"How will I achieve complete and total ultimate arcane power?" asked Vaarsuvius.

"By saying the right four words, to the right being, at the right time, for all the wrong reasons.'

I'd like to say yes.

It certainly was the right thing to happen. This guy deserved to be executed.

It certainly was the right person for it to happen to. Oh yes.

Was it the wrong reason? Quite possibly, zie didn't kill Kabuto because he was guilty of murder, etc... As I see it, V was simply tired of the whole subplot and just ended it in the most efficient way possible to get on to the main plot. He was simply in V's way

In a nutshell it could be said that Kabuto is to V as Warren is to Dark Willow. That defining moment when V moved to the dark side. Zie even has the veins to match. Of course, this could be considered a neutral action as well, i have always figured that V was neutral of some sort.

Rich has been sending us down the path of changing V for a long time, but if you want to be pedantic, I think rich is messing with us. I'd have to say no. This would merely put V on the path to obtaining ultimate arcane power, zie did not obtain it in that panel with those words.

It really depends on how literally we take the oracle's meaning.

I reserve the right to change my mind after thinking about it more. Lets see what happens in the next few strips. :)

And yes, I thought about this way too much.

My question is how much of Kubota's reply to Elan was overheard by V.

I am thinking not very much.

Really, i expect V knew who the guy was, maybe heard the last few sentences, but really didn't care. Zie just walked up and obliterated him.
